Deep Dish Vegan Pepperoni Pizza
Ingredients:
- 1 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 package 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- cup warm water
- cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup vegan mozzarella cheese
- 1 package vegan pepperoni slices
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small red onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil, for sauting
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish optional
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast
Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy
In another bowl, mix flour and salt
Add olive oil and yeast mixture
Mix until a dough forms
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic
Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour
Preheat the oven to 425F 220C
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat
Saut garlic, bell pepper, and red onion until softened
Season with salt and pepper
Set aside
Punch down the dough and roll it out to fit a deep-dish pizza pan
Press the dough into the pan, covering the bottom and sides
Spread marinara sauce over the dough
Sprinkle vegan mozzarella cheese evenly
Arrange vegan pepperoni slices on top
Spread the sauted vegetables over the pepperoni
Add more vegan cheese if desired
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly
Garnish with fresh basil leaves if using
Slice and serve hot
