Quick Mac and Cheese



This simple mac and cheese recipe for the stovetop is a quick and tasty way to make a comforting meal. In just 20 minutes, you can have creamy, cheesy macaroni made with simple ingredients and little work.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Follow the directions on the box to cook the macaroni until it is al dente

Remove the water and set it aside

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat

To make a roux, add the flour and stir it in

Cook for one to two minutes

As you whisk in the milk, make sure it's smooth

Keep stirring the mixture as it cooks for about 3 to 5 minutes, or until it gets thicker

Turn down the heat

Add cheese shreds and mix them in until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth

Add macaroni that has been cooked to the cheese sauce

Mix everything together and heat it all the way through

Add pepper and salt to taste

Warm up and serve
